"Something For Thee Hotties" (alternatively titled "Something For Thee Hotties: From Thee Archives") is the first compilation album by Megan Thee Stallion. It was released on October 29, 2021, through 1501 Certified & 300 Entertainment. The compilation was supported by two singles; "Thot Shit" & "Megan's Piano", released June 11, 2021 and November 30, 2021 respectively. The compilation peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA on September 1, 2021.
Background[]
On October 21, 2021, Megan Thee Stallion announced the compilation as her gift to her fanbase she calls "Hotties", saying that the project would feature some of the YouTube freestyles her fans were asking for, as well as unreleased songs from her archives. The original tracklist was then revealed on October 27, initially featuring fifteen tracks including the previously-released single "Thot Shit". The tracklist was then updated under an hour prior to the compilation's intended midnight release, featuring 5 more tracks including "Warning", "Kitty Kat" and skits performed by Juicy J, VickeeLo and Dino BTW. The compilation was delayed by a few hours, eventually being released at 8am on the scheduled date.
In a Twitter Q&A shortly after the compilation's release, Megan revealed that majority of the songs on the compilation were recorded throughout 2021. Some of the most recent songs were recorded a few weeks prior to the compilation's release; and the oldest songs recorded were the Tidal's Bless the Booth freestyle from 2019, as well as "Bae Goals".
Lawsuit[]
Around 2020, Thee Stallion filed suit against her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment to renegotiate her contract, after her management company Roc Nation found it "iffy". Originally sent to 1501 as an album, the label did not consider Something For Thee Hotties as an album. The label claimed the projects' 44:38 of material is less than the 45 minutes stipulated in the rapper's recording contract, including 29 minutes of new material. In addition to this, Megan would have to release two additional albums in appliance to her contract with 1501. Megan took legal action against the label, claiming the project met the definition of an album. In addition to the lawsuit, Megan took another lawsuit against the label for her poor promotion of her sophomore album, Traumazine. After the second lawsuit following the promotion for Traumazine, a represent for 1501 had confirmed Megan Thee Stallion and the label had parted their ways, following for the artist to open up her independent production company and label record, Hot Girl Productions.
